Minister visits lead British international School over viral bullying videos

The Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohaneye, has visited the Lead British International School, Abuja following multiple footages of bullying that surfaced in the internet space on Tuesday. The minister who visited the school was accompanied by some officials of her ministry. Our correspondent also observed that one of the bullies (female) who was captured in the video was brought to the school by two elderly women. Multiple videos of students of the school assaulting their fellow students surfaced and went viral on social media on Monday. In one of the videos, a group of four female students were seen hitting another female student on her cheek while she sat helplessly. “Who is the boy? What is the boy’s name,” they asked repeatedly while hitting her. The School’s management in a statement released to the public had noted that it had launched an investigation into the incident. This Earlier today, the Honorable minister of Women Affairs Barr Uju Kennedy Ohaneye formally unveiled the national guideline on Women and Girls' Empowerment for Optimal Nutrition at the Abuja Continental Hotel, pursuant to our collective desire to scale up consciousness on optimal nutrition for our Women and Girls.  Optimal nutrition is not just a health imperative but a basic human right enshrined  in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to which Nigeria is a signatory. The consequences of malnutrition, including cognitive impairment, reduced productivity and chronic illness, can result in significant GDP losses of 2-3% annually translating into substantial economic burdens. Another bold step was taken by the Ministry today in its sustained efforts to improve the Welfare and wellbeing of Nigerian Women as we recieved the President of National Association of Nigerian Traders, Dr Ken Ukaoha and members of his team at the office.
